La Gavina, 4
07410 Pto. De Alcudia
Balearic Islands, Mallorca, Spain
The hotel is located in close to the port of Alcudia on the nothern half of the north coast of Mallorca. The hotel is situated about 60 km from the airport of Palma de Mallorca and may be the place you are looking for to spend your next family holiday.
The original old town of Alcudia is 3 km inland from the coastal development, and it is certainly worth a visit during your stay with parts of the town dating back to around 1300. What visitors may not realize however, is that it was the Phoenicians and Greeks who first settled here, closely followed in the 2nd century BC by the Romans, who made Alcudia the capital of the island. Visitors to the Old Town of Alcudia today enter the narrow streets through one of the two gates that were constructed, along with the impressive city walls, after the conquest of the island by King Jaime I of Spain.
Also you can visit the S'Albufera nature reserve, unique on the island and situated just a few minutes away from the Hotel.
Mallorca (also spelled Majorca) is the largest of the 16 Balearic islands. Lying in the Mediterranean about 60 miles off the coast of Spain, the islands have been home to diverse cultures since ancient times. Many tourists visit Majorca because of its beautiful landscape and mild, sunny climate.
Palma de Mallorca is the capital of the Balearics and has a cosmopolitan look, with many shops, restaurants, and other activities for visitors.
Shopping for Mallorcan pearls, glassware, wood carvings, and other handcrafted artwork is good. Those with more expensive tastes might want to visit the boutiques along Avenida Jaime III and the Paseo del Borne. Many shops close between 1:30 and 4:30-5:00 pm. The Museo de Mallorca includes an interesting collection of Moorish, medieval and 18th to 19th century art. The giant cathedral and the Arab baths are also worth a visit.
For those who wish to venture away from Palma de Mallorca, some of the most dramatic landscape is on the northern end of the island at Cabo Formentor. The road to the end of the long, narrow peninsula is long and winding. Another option outside the city is a tour of the Caves of Drach on Mallorca's eastern coast. This immense cave system features a natural lake and is one of the most visited sites on Majorca.
